Best for

  • Gaskets and seals
  • Grips and soft-touch handles
  • Bumpers and vibration dampers
  • Cable strain reliefs
  • Wearable and medical-device prototypes
  • Overmold and urethane-cast prototypes

Design rules

  • Walls 1.0 mm or thicker; thinner flaps can tear
  • Round internal corners so tears don't start there
  • Drain holes of 3.5 mm or more in hollow parts
  • Supports leave small marks on soft parts; mark the faces that must be clean

Questions

How soft is 80A?

Firm but bendable, in the range of a shoe sole or a hard rubber bumper. For softer parts, ask for Formlabs Elastic 50A as a special request.

Will it last like molded rubber?

It handles repeated flexing well for prototypes and low-volume parts. For parts that flex constantly in production, we can talk through molded TPU or silicone.

Can you print gaskets?

Yes. Send the gasket as a solid STL; a ring 62 mm across prices at the $7.00 part minimum.
